Never really expected a 1600 xflow to be that good as it’s still a 40 year old engine, but they’re really good little engines

I have my own son now, so hopefully he will be into cars and me and him can start messing with the car and buy more.

It’s been along time since I updated this. Nearly 8 years infact
I still have the car, I had the car in the road in 2016, as my dad was diagnosed with cancer, and after a few weeks in hospital it was decided he could go home and see how long he could last.
After visiting him till 8 most evenings. I went right round to where the car was kept and set to work sorting it. It needed rear brakes and cylinders and a couple of other jobs. I got it MOT’d on the Thursday and parked it right out front of the QE hospital in Birmingham waiting for my sister to bring him out. The smile on his face was brilliant.
Not only was he going home. He was going home in style.
We managed to use the car a few times over then next couple of months until he passed.
That’s us going off for a drive
How the car currently looks.
We’re moving out in two months and I need to build a temporary garage in the mrs parents back garden as moving in with them. So we’re no in a chain when buying a house.
Finally got a gold 1600 sport decal kit.
Doesn’t look the easiest thing to fit.
My radiator hoses are crunchy so ordered two new ones. But can’t find the ones that go to the heater matrix.
I’m going to get the carb rebuilt and jetted and the timing set then hopefully I’ll use it a bit this year.
Cheers Paul.

had a go at fitting the servo etc,
done most of it, still need to tighten up a couple of bolts, and add a servo pipe, then bleed them when i can get the car onto the drive.
not exactly a factory finish but its only for a while as i want to replace all the brake pipes etc compleatly in the next couple of years when i do a brake upgrade.
from this
to this
i took the car off the road due to money issues and the brakes didn't always work
now ive got loads of money and hopefully fully working brakes.
MOT booked for tuesday 8th, ready to take it to the midlands to wales run a few of you are also on.

It's time to get it back out on the road, so all I need for now is a mk2 servo tower and servo etc to replace the none servo dodgy master cylinder, everything else can wait,
Should have it going again April time.

been nearly a year since i last posted anything on here, started a new job started back at college etc, put the escort on the back burner.
still want to get it sorted for next year april/may time but will see how everything goes.
got it out only a couple of times all year to just run it down the road and back, haven;t charged the battery or anything and it still keeps starting it no problem once the fuel gets up to the carb.
pic taken a couple of weeks ago
hope to take it to a few shows in the new year but will see how things go.
Paul.
