I have been told that by the use of a mock up, a hairdryer and by wet fitting, they will be made to mould to the shape of arches.
Personally I just couldn't see it and for every expert that said it could be done, there were 2 graphics experts saying it couldn't.
Would like to know if anyone has tried this approach.
The car that was built by Sooty for Ari to use on the McRae stages was striped up using the modern method ( Graphics ). And whilst a very good job was made of it, no way was it as nice as the traditional paint job ( shade of blue / width of stripes etc etc )
Your car looks fantastic, well done on a damn fine build.
Was told you can get like a clear decal to go on to the rear arches to protect the paintwork, has anyone seen these and what do they look like fitted. I'm thinking they would look crap, better off with battered paintwork??
Stuff you are on about is made by 3M, comes in several diffent micron thicknesses and is clear. However it is not invisible you can see it. Americans use it a lot on the front of their cars to protect from stone chips

Thanks Alan. The graphic guys who were against it said they could probably fit it OK, but couldn't guarantee and actually predicted that the graphic would on the arches through time.

That puts that to bed then. I had thought it would be reasonably visable, and whilst a very practicable device it's going to look stupid on a replica.
Is it just the stuff you use to laminate pages or maps?
No Mike its special stuff and is very hardy. I have used it on a couple of gravel events to protect the lower arch / cill area and tbh it does the job although it needs replacing every event ! AND it has such a strong adhesive backing it pulls the bloody paint off !!!!
