my blower doesn't work, is it likely to be the electrical connection on the top that usually rusts??
As said above there seems tobe two main problems.
1- the resistor plate terminals corode and go open circuit stopping feed to motor (this is negative feed, positive is direct to motor)
2- the bearings dry out and 1st the motor gets noisy then eventually jams before melting the plastic mounts of the brushes/connectors (I have two like this so decided it was better to put a new motor in then try and repair the old)
Looks like a common problem surfacing here.
Any time Taffr ,love to pull the beige rage to bits
Thanks for all the other replies , motor turned up today so rebuild can start.
Chuffed for you Neil. Looks superb does that. (Don't listen to the Capri Man)
But you know its what I really wanted
Few pics of motor goin in.
Old motor on the left stripped of fan and white plastic surround, another ****ed one in the middle and the new one assembled on the left.
The two melted ones
New assembly
Assembly dropped into half a heater box ,resistor to the left.
Fully at home in full heater assembly ,fully tested with resistor and a 12v battery
Just needs refitting into the car ,job for tommorrow, along with the rest of the interior.
