A Twink called BEV

Where did you get tyour cage from ? Did it come with the belt bar between the rear legs ? Did it come with door bars ?

It came new from West Wales Rally Spares. The feet are too small on old type ones to meet regs, so I figured that being new it would be the best bet. Also they come with the correct size of pads to weld to the floor (which mine didn't have at all, just holes in the floor and arches)
I fitted the belt bar, as the shell only had one belt eye per side in the back, and I'm not sure if that is allowed any more. Also the door bars come separate and the brackets need to be welded to the cage.
I will also be bracketing to where the top seatbelt mounts would go, but I haven't made provision to mount to the screen pillars. I am trying to keep it 'olde worlde'

Soon to be fitting motor and box. Anyone know what this tapped hole is for in the back of a rocket box? (The one beside the bolt that is in the left corner) They haven't all got this, but it must be for something

the tapped thread is on the reverse gear shaft and is used when pulling the shaft out.

Thanks, I take it that nothing goes in it when assembled (possibly keep the threads clean)?
I have a simliar box in my other car, and the tail casing doesn't have a hole in it, hence that thread isn't visable.

Well, I got the motor and box in........

The car is now sat on my Clark work bench. As I was wheeling the motor under the shell, the wheels fell off this quality product. I should have guessed, machine mart stuff is great if you don't use it.

Has anyone any experience with the new prop shafts that the dealers are advertising? They seem pretty cheap at just over £100, any good ?

Next job, get some bolts sorted to fit the axle.
A pet hate of mine, is suppliers sending bolts that don't have a long enough bit of plain shank to go completely through what you are bolting together. This is bad engineering practice, it allows components to begin wearing out prematurely, as well as wearing out the threads on the bolt.
I got the axle built proffesionally, and the sent wrong bolts with it, the link bars came new with the wrong bolts, the list is endless. Oh dear, I've turned into Victor Meldrew........

It's about time I updated this thread, so here it is.
I've not done a lot to the car of late, but I set a target that I had to meet, by booking in at Tony Laws to get both BEV, and a vintage bike project exhausted. That entailed getting the windows in and all the door mechanisms sorted so that I could trailer the car safely and without it filling up with water.
So the above shot is before I set off.
It tipped down during the return journey, so the car is filthy now
