  • Fitting Megajolt

Well as the engine is out I thought I would start fitting the Megajolt system to the RS.
These are the parts you need, you will notice I have cut the dissy in half as you only need the drive for the oil pump.

Thanks to Leon for the spare dissy

    First fitted the Trigger Wheel

I got the trigger wheel and VR bracket from www.Trigger-Wheels.com
This is with the VR bracket on

I mounted the EDIS4 unit on the bulk head as I'm fitting the Megajolt ECU in the glove-box.

Thats all I managed today as still need to make up a wire-loom and find a place to fit the coil pack.

If I can get it the engine all back together in time and get it running on the Megajolt before Nat Day then it will be running on the Megajolt system otherwise I will put the engine back together and run it on the Dissy but leaving all the bits in place.

Well post more info as I go

Hi, have you already got a base-map for the Megajolt? A friend overhere is fitting Megasquirt to his Pinto and could do with a base-map for the ignition.
Also, is that a Cosworth-type block? (because of the 2333 markings near the dizzy-hole). Grtz, Leon.

        Leon
The block is a 205 type, I got some MAPS from this site for the pinto http://www.cate1.co.uk/megajolt/mapping.php also try here http://www.autosportlabs.net/MegaJol...ers_Welcome%21

The MAPs will need tweaking for the engine but these give you a head start.
Also tell him to seach the Kit Car sites as lots of them run Megajolt & Megasquirt I like this one http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/.
        Regards
        Kieran

Forgot to post pics of the ECU from Megajolt

as you can see its not that big so might even fit it on top off the glove-box but this would means having to remove the clock-pod each time I wanted to plug the laptop into it.

            Computer plugs into this port

you use this port to wire into the EDIS4

The Megajolt allows you to have up to 4 ignition MAPs so you can fit a dashboard switch and flick between them IE one for eco road use, one for fast road use, one for track days and one so the car won't run which would be good for when parking it up in the garage for added theft protection

yes it will do 3d and is really only 1/2 used if you dont ?

looking at the vr bracket , is that a final job or mockup? i ask as i think it might vibrate, i would use a more substantial bolting system ie 10mm rod with a correct thread each end ?

nice to see it being done tho, keep at it

Its a mock up at this stage, I'm looking at a nice bit of steel or ally to use as a big spacer with a couple of holes drilled in it and bolt it onto the engine that way to stop any movement.

Yes I'm going 3D as the R1 bike carbs I use already has a TPS sensor on them so just need to wire it up to the Megajolt.

Not at all, its way over mine as well but I'm just reading as I go and following what other people on the Kit car scene have done.
Once you start its seems ok and it all starts to come together..........I Hope

My mate has fitted this aswell says it done away with the pinking and revs a lot smoother and higher than with the points (as long it doesnt pop its my engine thats in his car)
says it has a shift light facility aswell,he was on about getting the trigger wheel dowelled so if it needs removed it doesnt need set up again does yours have a dowel ??

Yep its got an outlet for a shift light so will also wire that in but maybe at a later date. Seen a two phase LED which you can set to light up green when the cam comes on then turns red to change gear

Not had it dowelled but I am going to drill some holes though the trigger wheel and the crank pully then bolt them together as this also helps stop any slip between the trigger wheel and pully
