struck upon this wonderful idea of stripping the rear covers and washing and redying them to get a darker black like the front ones went to put them back on the frames tonight and wouldnt fit they had shrunk in the wash although i used a low temp but after an epic struggle and a few bad words got it all back together and after all that didnt get it as black as i wanted but still looks ok ,wonnt be doing that agin in ahurry

no but was still feeling brave after i done the front ones so i stripped the rears and redyed them black came out ok (although they shrunk in the wash ) but got it sorted will be on the to do list maybe next year as well as a few wee bits and bobs

joys of restoring stripped bits and pieces of the car and removed the duff release bearing fitted another new one ,put everything together fired her up and hey presto still howling when you let out the clutch and fine when you depress ,another duff release bearing or is it the bearing in the gearbox ,now i need to strip everything again tomorrow ,think i 've put everything on twice if not three times on this car ah well will get there in the end ,its a bugger all the same though

well believe it or not drove the mex out of the garage and onto the road ,drove it a few times up and down my road and nothing fell of ,so went round the village well chuffed ,added bonus was that my mate cabby came down and sprayed my non locking petrol cap sad i know but who cares also the steering is flippin heavy kinda got used to power steering will try and take pics tomorrow or better once i got her all cleaned up properly

cheers guys ,to be honest would nt be at this stage if it wasnt for tips and hints from you guys especially yourself Tim cheers was itching to take her again tonight but will have to wait a bit ,going for a premot just for a quick once over at a garage up the road who's into his old fords ,the scene seems to be getting quite big up here now ,another RS2000 custom came up to the island last week a white custom model becoming as common as muck now ,think theres about 4 or 5 mk2 mexico's on the road with another 3 that i know of at resto stage should be a fun summer
