Mex IT I know exactly what the engine is and the history of the block as the car came with two spares this engine and its predicesser were both built to Roland Hayes' own spec by the previous owner I am sure Dave RS1800 knows how powerful this car was as the guy is a good friend of mine and Dave and I have known him for 12 years and he has I think one of the lowest membership numbers in the club 40** and was the one of the founders of Middx RSOC he defo knows his way round an engine big time as this has been proven at a number of National Day track action in the past as it was a regular so please dont knock it

car looks lovely, nice to see a shell in such nice condition

you wont believe the attention it'll get when you get it on the road, I had a 3dr and a bright yellow 968 porker, the droopy one beats 'em all

as has been said you should aim for the lakes tour if possible, it's the most fun you can with an old escort

I look foward to the progress pics, looks like it only really needs a good bufty though ...........................................and some new wheels

thanks Lee hope all is well mate cant wait to get it on the road tbh really excited by working on a proper car again and getting dirty in the garage with something I can really get stuck into if all goe to plan it will be on the road for 2008 not sure if I will make the lakes or not tbh but I may give it a go and see as I need to run it in once all done and want want to stress here to much until that has been done but I will need to get her in and get some minor dents knoked out and then paint it to really bring it up to std but I am really enjoying the RS scene again and it has been a while since i could say that

I will probably use this thread to keep everyone upto speed on my progress matey I have already assembled the head with the valve stem seals and valve springs put the cam in so I am on my way so to speak but before I get really into the main works on the shell as it has two dents on the n/s rear quarter, scratch on the n/s door paint lifting on the windscreen scuttle panel one in the drivers door but other than that the body is extremely straight it has had new genuine FMC front inner and outer wings done around 1989 and it is firewalled as well so large amount of work has been done and it has had only 3 owners from new.

I will try for the lakes but I wont rush a labour of love

taking into account the comments on the wheels I have found these split rims and are 15 inch but look like OE RS items

Nice RS, I know the car well from yonks ago when Rob had it.. infact I got a piccie or it behind me @ LLandow circuit back in the early 90's.

Be nice to see it out again, and a personal fav colour of mine :-)

Rob was always a good supporter of the Welsh track days and i remember the car very well at pembrey, llandow, and at Combe, all in the early 90's, car was always quick and well presented, got yourself a nice one there Simon,
