ermm.......
early next year in paint, then take my time bolting shiny bits to a shiny shell
cheers for the interest everyone, still going bulkheads done now, and have baremetalled all of it as the plan is to paint it all before refitting the plenum so theres actually some paint in there
unlike the factory finish
just propped on at the mo

cheers all
well my holiday has come to an end and me and Rob have done well, mahoosive thanks to Rob for his help and allowing me to bung up Hoarder towers for a week
well I finished off prepping the interior floorpans and Rob squirted some etch primer at it for me
then I got got creative with some sound deadning pads and done all the seam sealer
while I was doing this Rob had squirted some etch primer on the bulkhead and inside the plenum and grill
this was all flatted back then time for some le mans the grill being a real git to get to bare metal
as mentioned previously the decision was made to silkaflex the plenum back on therefore preserving all the paint and no holes hopefully ensuring many rust free years ahead, the silkaflex is also overpaintable and will be tidied before paint but is strong enough to tow the car on the plenum now
lovely and shiny inside
inbetween this while we were quite literally waiting for paint to dry we started looking at the doors, my doors are off a 68 escort as I already had them and they really look like new, however there are some differances I knew we were going to adjust the tops of the inside to allow the pin to go up through so this had already been done and started adjusting the catch holes
a bit of extra welded in the top and the old holes welded up and done...................................erm no the handle wouldnt fit as the late handles have an extra bulge in the door so this was cut out of the old doors and rob welded this section in as well, a skim of stopper before pent and this will be spot on
while Rob was bashing his head against a wall with that lot I started cutting lock holes in the door (early cars have no lock holes as they oly have a drivers lock in the handle)
and a square in the inner for the internal rod
and one working door
happy days, back on it tomorow after work
