Ha yea, well I hoping it will be a driving C.V! After I've finished my course and looking for a job in the motorsport industry I'll have a few pics of the resto stapled to my C.V

Got some more done on the escort and some more pics if anyone wants to see. On that front splash shelid I've made up some pannels as the replacement pannel didn't cover what I had to cut out for the rust. I've butt welded them together so that i'll be able to grind down those welds and once painted will look as normal.

Make sure you dont throw away the Heater Bubble as they are hard to get decent ones, and yours looks in good nik too

Ah yea I may have to retrieve that from the bin then It did have a small rust the size of a 50p piece tho. How much are they if they're mint? as I may consider repairing it and selling it.

they're not wortha fortune but can realise some handy cash, seen one recently with the scuttle for £50, which was in good condition

Yea thanks...Its worth repairing then, got the scuttle too but it has spot weld holes in all the way down its length. Does anyone know what kind of gearbox tunnels are available? I mean will an MT75 fit in a 'large gearbox tunnel' that is sold everywhere or will I have to custom make one? Thanks

Don't know dick about gearbox tunnels but the rest of the motor is coming along well.

I take it because it's an official project all the nice things like costs and manhours are being recorded.

Most people know roughly what their car stands them but I would love to see a breakdown of the costs and hours for the likes of a major resto, such as this one.

Got costs all recorded with recipts but man hours i'm ubsure of. All I know is that I've spent bludy ages on it!! And will spend load more time on it yet!!

I used to live just down the road from you, between MSN and Shepton Mallet
I have to say you could have hardly picked a much more ambitious project, and you must have nerves of steel (no pun intended) as there's one hell of a lot of material that needed removing & replacing.

This is one very fine and interesting thread, I myself have never had the luxury of being able to stick one of my motors in a garage and just come back to it when I've the time and interest, which doubtless makes quite a bit of difference.

Nevertheless, I think everybody on here takes there hat off to you, we love the pictures, keep 'em coming

Got that splash sheild all ground down and red oxided, you can still see where I've welded which is a bit annoying, tried for ages and got it the best I could, but your not going to see it, toying with sticking some filler in it but wondering if its actually worth it. Got my inner arch all ground down and red oxided, again the welds are visable but seeing and there is a ally outer arch on top of it I didn't see the point in making it super smooth. As you can see from the last photo I'm starting to get a plate in to strengthen up the jacking point and to join the inner body to the new outer sill.
