Hey, I'm Max, I'm 19 and this is my first restoration and my first thread thing. I am doing a motorsport engineering course at college and my teacher has kindly let me use the workshops so I can do my car. This is the only 2 door non sunroof mk2 I could afford so I bought it not knowing how bad it was. As you will see from the photos I have to replace pretty much everything as this one looks like it spent all 28 years in the sea! My intentions with this car are to restore it with the grp4 mods and stick a vauxhall xe or a 2.0 zetec in and then hill climb/sprint it. Hope you like these photos, any advice or critisisms (constructive ones) are appreciated so maybe I can learn from them.

Well my first bit of advice is never to let a car with a sunroof let you be put off with buying it , surely it would be easier to replace a roof than it would to replace every panel on the car
Oh and that is somme very good work you have done up to now..keep goingLast edited by GAZ W; 03-09-2006, 09:40.sigpic

just looking at those (awful ) pics again and am even more impressed. I've only just twigged that you're 4-linking and towering it etc.
There are some very nice box sections going in there.
Doing all that work, why not keep the powertrain Ford and try to set a specific target - I'm sure there are some historic car classes in UK, non?
Dig out the rule book and try to go the original route (I don't mean bufty and NOS stuff!)
Then a nice tasty British Airways livery ...........

Hey lathamescortmk2, i'm doing motorsport engineering at Lackham College in Wiltshire. I've just finished my first year and start college again on the 11th. Yea its a bit of a project, i'm just looking forward to going back to college and get back to work! I was thinking of the black and white shell colours or just a flat white, not set in stone though. Any ideas? Cheers Max
