I got this message from Richard yesterday not a week ago sorry

My cousin's £100k+ Ford Escort rally car ended up on your side of the Irish Sea - apparently it was logged going onto a ferry in the week after its theft. Probably been broken up for its parts, as the shell was unique (CF roof, for example). I don't know if you have any eyes&ears in the Escort rally scene, but I suspect that everything's south of the border rather than in NI.

Ferry company should be able to tell the police who bought the tickets

So why would you suspect south rather than north

As Andy says ,,,Port CCTV also Boat CCCTV ,,, Ferry Tickekes ans booking info will reveal who was transporting the car

Its not difficult now is it ??

I am sure the insurance would follow this lead up to avoid paying out 110k ,,

Well that's good to know that they have found them and reunited them with their owners then.

This is the info I have from the owners cousin

                        Quote

Brian's passing on the information as it was passed on to me, bythe owner/driver. The car - the pride & joy of my cousin, who has been rallying for 20-25 years, was stolen from Staffordshire, England, just over a month ago. The trailer it was on has been found, but no car. Apparently the Police managed to track it being loaded onto a ferry heading for Ireland - no idea if it was NI or Eire, and no idea *how* it was tracked that way (CCTV, I believe, but I'm not sure). Problem is, most of the CCTV either doesn't get stored or is useless (I know that myself, having been car-jacked in a busy city centre; the CCTV cameras either weren't looking the right way, or showed one tiny stick man being punched by another tiny stick man - no ID possible). As to where the car was stored, it wasn't covered by CCTV well enough to help. And the sad fact of modern policing is that most of the detective work is done by the victims these days; all those stories you hear about people tracking down their own stolen property via eBay etc? It's because the Police don't have the time or the leads to do it.

The reason why the call's going out is that we'd quite like to know which thieving gits nicked it or handled it. The chances of recovering the whole car are slim to bugger all, but the car has a LOT of unique and highly specialised parts - you can see some of them in the photos. Somebody, somewhere will have been offered a new engine/gearbox/diff/steering wheel/alloys etc at a good price, no questions asked. So if you see anything dodgy, we're just asking if you could get in touch and pass the info on. The chances of recovering the whole car are slim to bugger all, but having been on the end of losing a good car to bad people I sleep easier at night knowing that I've done *something*, however minor, to help Col.
