Just out of interest, anyone know what countries it would be exported to if it was to go as a whole car?

I'm another who reads this thread hoping that there has been a great outcome Having two cars stolen never to been seen again is sickening and they never had the time and effort put into them like this car has.

Dave do you have a record of stolen 1800's and engine numbers? I think I spoke to you years ago at the RSOC Essex show at Aveley, we spoke about one of my work mates had his 1800 nicked from the work car park (Tilbury Power Station) back in the late 80's and no later than 90.

It was 1987 when I had my RS2000 nicked too, really sickening thought when it happens. These cars have been disappearing over many years now with no sign of stopping, and that's another sickening thought!

they knew what that were taking and what they were going to do with it.

other members in the mk.2 escort scene know the where abouts and will have parts off this without doubt.
I think after all this publicity even a thief wont be silly enough to try to sell the bits on the likes of e bay
As many have said this was no doubt stolen to order and any parts will be distributed under the counter
If you are offered parts or ask for parts then it makes you no better than the thief that stole it or the person who arranged the theft

        • There is more to life than eBay for selling parts and there is loads of escort enthusiasts that are not on the net

I find it hard to believe that anybody going to trouble of thieving an 18 would not know that it's going to be pretty difficult to "move on" the major/expensive parts without getting caught. Also, an 18 is worth much more than the sum of its parts, surely.

It's a shame the police don't spend the time and resources trying to track these people down as they did with the stolen paintings that ended up in a fire in Romania; or come to that "fitting up" and ejecting MPs from their posts...

                      • I would think the hardest thing to move on is the engine due to its id numbers etc

                        • Everyone seems to think no one would want to buy stolen stuff. Unfortunately that's not the scene or the world we're in.

I think many would baulk at buying stuff they know has been the result of thieving and stripping some poor sod's pride and joy. Not only that but the more people see the threads and that are offerred the bits, surely the greater the chance of getting nicked???

Many yes, all no. As in any large community there will be people who just don't give a ****.
