Have a think about this one. Who in their right mind would even think about filling in forms claiming that they are in possession of this car. Maybe a homeless person that wants to be in prison for Christmas perhaps.

Would a cash reward just lead to cars being stolen so someone involved with the theft could claim it?

Less hassle than selling it on or stripping it down and these scumbags may think they garunteed a cash lump sum.

After the weekend I was hoping there was gonna be some good news on this either being sighted or found.

The thing is that an RS1800 (also this could apply to a MKI Escort RS1600 or Twin Cam) is worth big money but because they don't look alot different from a standard car to the average person on the street they may not take much notice of it on a low loader. Alot of cars at that value would be some sort of unique vehicle that would look very different so the general public would be more likely to notice it. I mean its not that uncommon to see a MKII Escort rally car on a beavertail is it, so I guess its easier than we may think to move such a car on an open truck.

With regard to insurance if it's not on a classic policy then they give the market value and they are unlikely to find any others for sale so will use a price guide from a source that is recognised by insurance companies such as The Sporting Escort Owners Club (their current RS1800 value £14,000 -£45,000+). If the insurance company thinks it's only worth £1500 they'll have a shock when they check the values, and they won't find any recognised outside authority that will tell them its worth £1500.

I hope it gets found but I guess the reality is it'll be stripped of its parts which will be sold via ebay then the shell will be primered and be put on ebay wearing tags, plates and have a logbook that was bought on ebay.

If it was my car I would leave no stone unturned!! I would be on here and other sites every day seeking information!! It would of been put on ebay straightaway so thousands of people could of seen it! I would give the exact location it was stolen from and the possible routes it could of travelled on! I travelled with my Escort only a few miles but it was spotted by many people! I do not think there as been enough information about this car for its safe return! this type of car would of been spotted by lots of people!! These sort of cars can not be moved without many people noticing them! if this car had of travelled any distance it would of been spotted I am sure! I have read the posts many times but not one sighting of one of the rarest escorts in the UK!

The people that took this car knew what they were taken even dug post out concrete , car would be in a shuttle trailer or undercover transporter right away before moving , could be anywhere in the country now

Depends what time of day or night it was nicked. If it was nicked at stupid o'clock in the morning then not many people would've seen it, if they'd stuck it on a flatbed & covered it even less people would've seen it.

News of this car has been posted all over the internet on many forums & on many facebook groups which reach 1000s (My own stolenosf group has over 1600 members alone)

Well I am sure the owner will be able to narrow it down as he will know who he as let in to his garage! The person or persons who stole this rare very valuable car will of had to of known the following information..............
No1 where the car was garaged??????
No2 what time of day or night they could strike?????
No3 If the owner was away?????
No4 What alarms or security was on the garage?????
No5 What tools etc to take to steal the car?????
No6 That the car its self did not have a tracker or alarm?????
No7 That they could hammer and make as much noise as they liked?????
No8 Park up a transporter or trailer without been seen?????
No9 Escape without anyone in the UK seeing them?????
No10 To know I could hide it or sell the parts or even build their own new car with the shell hoping the owner will never recognise it?????

If the car was kept in a council garage or a barn in the middle of a field I would say they would maybe of had half a chance of stealing this car, but these sort of cars are usually kept in well alarmed garages next to your own house! If my car had been stolen under the same circumstances as this one appears to of been, then I would be struggling to make my close friends or family or even the Gardner a cup of Yorkshire tea again!! some say this car could be at the other end of the country by now but the person or persons would of had to take a massive gamble and risk that they would pull this off without been caught!!

I've been reading this with some interest I'm hoping it turns up very soon like all of us. I am sure the car was for sale as it said this in the magazine it was featured in. So if anyone has viewed it they should be the top of the list of suspects I would say ?

If you read my post again I was referring to the "average person" and "general public" that would not view an RS1800 as any different to a normal Escort MKII. Of course to Ford fans it wouldn't blend in we'd know it was something special and take notice but to most people its a white Escort with a blue stripe, the average person doesn't say "OMG RS1800"

The insurance agreed value will hopefully cover the financial loss but not the emotional one.

I've had a car stolen, the only emotion I had was "where the ****s my car ?", your all talking as if the guys had a bereavement, it's a car for ****s sake and no doubt worth more as insurance claim than it would fetch on the open market .

There are people getting far worse news everyday than having their car stolen, five pages of sympathy is a bit much IMO but I am old and very cynical.

I would be interested to know what a guide price would be for that car and does that match the agreed value..
