was the owner out/away some where as to take the car with the deterents in place i.e the posts, chain ect...and not be heard or seen taking the car and driving it/towing it away then we are all at risk as no matter how preventative we are, they will get it.

        hope its found soon.

        Dave.

unless some twisted sad case pays for the car and hides it away never to come out again and gets their thrills sneaking into a garage to look at it, my feeling is it will be split for parts sold on as mex bits. Engine and box are rs18 model specific but surely 1840cc engines are rare especially with twin choke manifold and should stand out if offered for sale.
Again I hope thieves are caught and dealt with properly, a lot of people don't care about cars and treat them like white goods such as a washing machine but owner of 18 has obviously put heart and soul into restoring it and that is worth more than money

I too am gutted for the owner, It just shows what lengths these scum will go too, hes probably been watched for a while before they made their move.

Surprised the car had no tracking device though.

What concerns me also is the vin and engine numbers have also now been posted aswell as the registration... Bet there's a few v5 stealers who'll jump on that

So sorry to hear about this as it looks like a lovely car, but at the end of the day it's a Mexico with a different engine and gearbox, so if it's broken up then many of the parts as mentioned are general RS parts which are so easy to get rid of, leaving a near concours engine and gearbox to give the thieves away!

Trouble is that the more standard and perfect they are, the more difficult they are to recognise, but in this case it has a top tint on the windscreen (not a standard fitting), a nice give away for the onlooker. Look out for this, or a toptint screen for sale! I do hope the scum get caught!

Feel really sorry for the owner, hope it turns up, that moment of realising your cars gone is a horrible sickly feeling!

To take the tools to remove a concrete post from the floor you would think they knew how it was stored?

Sadly in cases like this there is usually a link to someone who has been to the house and seen it.

Is there any local cctv that may have picked anything up eg shops car park cameras etc PC plod wouldn't be that interested so you may have to do your own fishing!

                              Really hope it turns up.

Not a big job to paint a bare shell and change the glass for the potential money they would get for the shell.

End of the day the it will be sold on to people in the Escort world so its up to them to be honest and report any suspect sales
