all for less than me not fair. But would I be right in saying its all about
getting on the ladder and the more progression the cheeper it will get.
I tried to get a quote on my own on the little fiesta and they want
5000 euros fully comp and then I change me name to my sisters

Insurance for the MK6 RS2000 is very expensive, I had one a few years back and that was about £600 while my 2wd saff Cossie was about £250.

even now my GTA (group 17) is only £550 including bus mileage, oh to be older... lol

There is a very good way around this Aaron. Basically the escort will be
in my fathers name and on his garage policy but there is a thing on a
policy which enable you to drive and have insurence on any car not in you name. But the thing is you have to have a full licence to get this
option so I hope to have my full done by july august. I know it works
cause a buddy is insured on a 1.1 clio in his name and drives a 325 sport
as his every day car with the beemer being in his mothers name. I hope
ye get the idea. I know I will have to wait a bit but I think it will be
                          worth it.

                            Hi James,
I'd be careful with this route and check the policy small print.
Usually you can drive any car that does not belong to you, (so long as you have a full licence) however it is TPFT cover only.

So if the Mex is on your dads policy/name and you prang it when driving it the insurance won't pay for the repair to the Mex. (Assuming the accident is your fault).

Insurance companies wised up to young'uns driving on their parents insurance years ago and it usually makes no difference in the insurance quote.

I know because I tried this with my son last year when we were looking at options to insure his 1.1 Saxo.
We tried having the owner as myself, him as the additional driver and the insurance quote was stupid

Tried the same quote, same company him as owner and it was still stupid, however for the small amout extra he is now building his NCB.
Incidentally, his 1st quote was over 4K for a 1.1 saxo (18yrs, passed a few months, his occupation & location did not help!) got a quote through Quinn (The Irish company, not rated by many of you over there ) for 1/2 the price.

                            Good luck with the test.

There's unfortuantely another issue James with your friends Beemer.

On the proposal form to insure the 325i it asks "are you (his mother) the main driver?"

If she answered yes, she's not disclosed the truth, which will almost certainly invalidate the cover, if a claim is investigated.

If she answered no, the insurer would quite correctly have asked "who is"?

                              Either way is not good.

p.s. I work in the Insurance business (non motor). I just got a new Focus ST, and even at age 43, with a max. ncb, it's still almost €1000 for comp.
You have to pay for your fun.
