Had a L reg one for a few years and really loved it, It was a bit dear to run (petrol ,insurance ,parts) The later ones seem to lose the RS character a bit ,Imho, They lost the rear discs and robbed the XR/Si parts bins to much ,But they still do the job and do it well,

he told me they are mint....the only bits around the car is stone chips on the bonnet and a 1p size dent in the drivers door and that's it

as paul above said i know they suffer with rear arch corrosion and fuel filler cap area are also prone to rot, surposed to be good everyday cars

still it will be a nice runner for the summer......if we get one this year...

if there any thing like rs1800 fez then they will rust around the filler and under the body kit and both fez ive seen have rusted on the floor under the driver and passenger seat

the bloke tells me it had the rustproofing done by ford its that paint thing they did in the 90s

plus the car has allways been in the garage aswell

so i think it might be a good one for that money BUT i am not to sure that why i asked here......cheeRS

its easy to use. Not worth £250 that some workshops charge.

at that mileage check the timing chain as they really should be change every 50k if not sooner, cracking cars, rot like hell. Reason for loss of rear discs is the improvement on the ABS systems, discs werent needed (so the story goes), check the lower front wishbones i.e. inner bushes Mk5/5a/6's are hard on these bushes (only use Ford ones, patterns only last a couple of 1000 miles)

Had a early Mk5 one for a year as you know, and I would have one again.

i have had a couple of these over the last 2 years. very good cars and much under-rated. quite nippy and nice to drive. as said though, watch out for rust. my last one was going under the rear spoiler, under the door mirrors, and rear arches. i had a 1 owner 64k one that was mint, which got stolen off my drive. found on fire minus its trim. its replacement though was starting to rust, so i got shot of it.
i would have another though, but i wouldnt pay 2500. you should get a good one for less than 2k no bother. look on auto trader.

Hi think it is a bit dear for it as its only a 1995 car they are also bad for the gearbox going in them aswell thats an earley rs also flat bonnet on it to be honest i think you would pick a newer one up for the money

Paul,
as per above , I have had a couple of these , won the concours class gold cup with mine , but don't put much money into one . People are struggling to shift these and they rot like theres no tomorrow. Another fault is the threads strip in the spark plug holes , the spark plugs undo themselves and the heat destroys the coil packs under the red engine cover. If I was to have another it would have to be an early bonnet bulge model as I think these are the ones people will look for in years to come.
