  • The Holy Grail that is........

    New Chocolate Brown Recaros.

Well as good as new anyway ! Just got my seats back from the trimmer, needless to say they went straight in and I was straight out on the road !

If anyone needs a sh!t hot trimmer, Dave Wilks is your man, he is in Halstead in Essex but I promise you he is well worth the drive - Phone number 07860 760560. Dave showed me some of the work a certain well known trimmer in the West Midlands had done to my seats previously (and charged me a considerable amount for I have to add) on the stripped out fabric and quite frankly it was appaling - a chimp with a needle and thread could have done better. Anyway, here's what I have in my car now :

Well, I'm finally there - after 3 years of looking and having spent in excess of £1000 I finally have the seats I wanted. I'm so happy I listened to everyones advice and kept LAR - who wants a Ferrari anyway !

Well they will have covers on when I sit in them Brian but, considering the car only covers a few thousand miles every year I think they will last me so long as I'm careful. Also, bear in mind that I have enough spare material to have one seat recovered again if necessary.

Also, I would say that Dave took a great deal of time and care in re-trimming these seats so that they would stand up to being used - apparently it's all down to how well and whereabouts the fabric is glued to the foam, this is key to stopping the material sagging which is caused by the foam breaking down

Looking good! Would you mind sharing a price for the work? (I guess the material was yours?)

He charged me £450 Drew but he had to have all the captive nuts in the bottom of the frame replaced and re-welded as the old ones were buggered.

Well Aldridge charged me £220 for some remedial work about 18 months ago and what they did was rubbish.

Bear in mind he replaced ann the piping and about 50% of the vinyl scavenged from other bits I had kicking around.
