Mk 2
Yes deffo overpriced, I am rebuilding a mk 2 rs2000 from a new shell and it will probably be worth nearly twice what my stunning rust free mk 2 Jag is worth, obviously the Jag is a much better quality car but less desirable, i have had the Jag for 34 years now and still love it, i hope i like the escort as much.

Maybe, maybe not! There is always a stigma attached to limited desirable items that perfection and originality is key. As most people know the only 'new' shells available are reproductions, they will never command the top / inflated sums seen these days. You can buy a brand new MSR Escort for £70k or buy a 'nuts & bolts, full body / mechanical restored original for £50-60k and i'll guarantee the former will loose money whilst the latter will keep climbing!

Yep the prices are crazy high. But the true enthusiasts who have owned them for years and years ain’t affected and there the ones that matter not the people making money for them.
I’ve always owned at least one Mk2 since 1986 so I’ve never “got off the ladder”so to speak !!!
Yes mines worth a lot! but I’d have to pay a lot to replace it
And like you originally said it’s a hobbysigpic

Yes, Yes they have become much to expensive along with the parts, if I had one for sale would I sell it cheap? No, so I am just as bad. Ultimately the prices are killing a good hobby Escort ownership is becoming in some ways an elitist past time and I feel will be to the detriment in the long term, There are some stunning cars around, gone it seems are the days of the diy restoration in your lockup garage some may say just as well but if interest dies because of the costs involved then the movement will fade from both young and old. People on this forum have made wise choices keeping their cars. anyway I am an old Grump so what do I know.

The scort prices are mental, when folk all bail out of them n sell up they will be way out of reach for the younger end, then maybe or maybe not the scorts will come down in price, there will always be the race n rally clique, but you car show/club scorts will fizzle out without a younger generation to get into them, I know it's not the same but it's happened with the mg crew, but there mostly odd and the cars are tied, any tour.news yet 🤣🤣🤣
Anyway
