Got my Mk 2 GKN alloys refurbed and new shoes

Got the local wheel place to refurb my wheels to dove grey and diamond cut. They had been painted black and silver by previous owner.

I'd bought some new CN36s and then twigged to the fact the wheels had been painted black (maybe I was thinking of Mk 1s when I bought the car and didn't notice)

The car is pretty mint with 65,000 miles on it, so trying to clean up a lot of things like this. Will post a pic later on the car.

Very nice , out of interest does your car have matching date stamps on all the wheels ? Some pictures of your car would be nice to see , love to see a nice original rs .

They are all month 2 of 76, including the spare which I did not restore.
Need to track down another GKN for use as a spare while driving --- I bought a 5th CN36 but going to leave the original CN36 on the original spare for car shows, don't think I'd drive on it but it is in pretty good nick.

Need to work on the wheel nuts now. Punch list of things to do is getting a bit longer. I'm about to reorganize my garage to make a bit more room to work on it (and the Cortina GT and the Escort Twin Cam).

Biggest issues:
- bodgie strut top repair, they just sandwiched two repair plates over the rusty plates. I have repair plates and a reinforcement with the chassis number stamped waiting to go in
- probably due for an engine and gearbox rebuild -- drives fine but looks pretty sad
- the stripe is painted on with this weird rough texture paint
- rear black panel need paint

Crikey, a mk2 RS 2000 in the US, hard to believe really. A car that simply is too European and too small for the States. Still Ford sold the Mk1 Capri and the mk1 Fiesta in the US, so I suppose it is feasible that Ford 'might' sell the mk2 in the US, but I can't recall ever seeing one in any American TV shows or films.
Where was it built? Was it a Saarlouis build car or a ckd kit that was assembled at a US Ford factory?

Saarlouis build March 76. Sold into Germany than exported to Norway some time later. I imported it from Norway 15 years ago. I also have a Mk 1 Twin Cam (CKD Australian).

Yeah I was feeling all chuffed the day I got it from customs and got it registered driving home in traffic thinking no one would recognize it and someone next to me in traffic yelled out "Nice Escort!"

There is one other Mk 2 RS here, in bits (ex race car). There are several other Mk 2's, and a host of Mk 1s (some race cars, I know of a couple RS1600, two Twinks, one Mexico, one RS2000).

I have seen one or two Mk II Capris too, I believe they were sold here (76-77?)
I know a guy who has a bunch of imported Mk IIIs.

Lots of Mk 1 and Mk 2 Cortinas sold here, as well as Mk 1 LoCorts, and then Mk 2 LoCorts and Mk III Cortinas sold in Canada.

I also have a 2dr LHD Cortina GT Mk 2 which was sold in the US.

I'm Australian but had already moved to the US by the time I bought the Twink.

The RS2000 actually came over on a RoRo (roll on roll off) - I was able to blag a ride for it through the company that does shipping for Volvo/BMW etc. to the US. Worked out a lot cheaper than a container.
