I'm very out of touch with the insurance scene in UK, but the above is 1/12 of the maximum payout value per year. IMHO that sounds very steep, even if the actual sum £161 sounds cheap.

Is UK insurance really that expensive? M8's in UK are also seemingly in a continuous battle with insurers to get them to pay out when they have a crunch.

I thought about 1/40th of the car's value would be normal. I used to pay 1000 DM per year for a 40000 DM Audi and I thought that was floopin' expensive!

                  Last question of the day:

With all of these home made brake systems, etc. here on the BB (Princess pots, own designs etc.,) do the UK Insurance companies really cough out if there are serious injuries and a police investigation?

Insurance is rediculous over here now, worse in NI, daily driver cars are costing a fortune, so a classic at £161 is cheap

on the classics and brakes issue,

What I was told by the insurers was we expect a car like this RS2 to have had modifications to engine and brakes as the originals are not up to todays std's and people who own these sort of cars genereally want more performance hence bigger and better brakes to go with it ? seems reasonable, plus owners of classic cars in general look after it better than someones daily driver. (debatable) LOL

but we spend a fortune trying to get them the best possible
