To add to the confusion I have just asked the DVLA about tax and mot free my car was registered in Jan 1979 he told me it’s free from April 2019.

I just went through the Vin Decoder and mine has a build date of UR which I translated as October 78 altho not registered till Feb 79... How can I get a letter to verify that so I can go to DVLA??

WL = May 1979 build month and year

So its 1st April 2020 to get free road tax

Today sent off my Feb 1978 RS Mexico's V5 via local Post Office, very helpful counter staff, wanted to chat about car!

WARNING! Take copies of V5 before you send it off to DVLA, they have a habit of losing them!!!
