Savage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Having owned my Mk2 Mexico for 30 years now I recently sent the V5 off for change of address having moved house. The DVLA have now written to me refusing to issue the new V5 until I provide them with numerous photos of the car. They will then send them to an expert at Ford who will confirm if it is a genuine car. Then they will issue the new V5. The car is currently stripped having been soda blasted and etch primed ready for some small repair then painting. Anyone else had this ?

Its a nightmare,,,every mk2 mexico flags up with the dvla. And rs2000 ...gt capri etc etc......You'll only get a fresh V5 WHEN its finished!!!!!!!!

Needs to be mot'ed and taxed......

If you have one in bits...make sure its all correct and mainly standard.

It's been set up to try & kerb the amount of ringers that are about.

Mk1 Mexico's reshelled into standard shells, cut out dash panels etc.

It's a bit of a pain but hopefully will go some way to deter wronguns creating ringers or using stolen shells.

I got my car on the road in May and finally received my log book back from DVLA about 2 weeks ago !!

I updated the logbook with every house move so it was only 4 years old at the time, my car hadn’t been taxed since 1988 though

Even though I had to jump through quite a few hoops I think it’s a good thing tbh

Agreed it's good that they 'seem' to be cracking down but they also 'seem' to be making it more difficult for legitimate owners to comply with their own regulations! If an owner has a log book in their name and address and they move they have to update the DVLA - why should this be an issue - nothing changes other than the address - who mandated that you can't move house without a complete car abd that if you do the V5 can be withheld!. This is another aspect of the civil service screwing with legit people because they are completely ineffectual against the crims! You need to see the hoops you have to jump through to get a firearms licence - just the licence, not a firearm........ whilst buying a 'street gun' - a few hundred £££ - yeah that's fair.............NOT!

This is true, a marker gets placed against them so if someone attempts to register it then they either get a visit or they get a refusal.

I've reported a few in the past via a contact. You used to he able to do it via the DVLA website but they got rid of it

So what if 30yrs ago you had been sold a Mex that had been reshelled into an ordinary spare part shell available from Ford. Do you now have to scrap your car?
