That is of course the original 300 spezials would of been stamped 1375kg of course I’m aware that there could be many cars classed as Spezials but would of been dealer built or personally modified but I’m speaking of the 300 cars commissioned by Michael Kranefus- Ford Motorsport Director back in the day.

Someone really got their scales wrong if UK cars are listed as 925kg and same spec german cars listed / marked at 1325kg ! And I find an extra 50kg for the Spezial almost unbelievable ....... you lose a load of steel and gain a load of fibreglass and its heavier?
I always understood kerb weight was - on the road, fuelled and fluid full?
There is no way a continental car can gain nearly 50% mass of its lighter 'better looking' UK rival............even though both built in the same plant ! ! !

Hi Katana, your right there is some confusion.... I am discussing the max gross weight as stamped on the vin plate, not sure of the technicalities of this but I assume it’s fully fueled 4/5 passengers,luggage etc. Why some people are mentioning kerb weight I’m not sure as this was never in dispute, I’m just stating in the field max gross weight field on the vin plate mine states 1375 kg other non-Spezial cars in Germany are stamped 1325 kg, hence as I’ve been informed by the Germans this is a sure fire way of checking if a Spezial is one of the 300 built in Germany, from later type cars(small strut top hole etc), if you go and check your car you’ll see the field ‘max gross weight’ although UK cars are not stamped as there was no requirement too, I’ve posted a pic of the vin plate on series x rs2000 on Facebook as I can’t seem to add pics on here. Hope this clears up any confusion. Thanks

The Spezial models weren't strictly a "factory" model but these 300 did come direct from Ford, however, the type approval number is the same as the standard car 449002 9 although the kerb weight was stated at 1325 kg on the VIN plate, as compared to the 925 kg of standard car.
