Kids in car seats

Want to take my 7 yr old lad out in my Mk1 but there's no rear seatbelts to secure his car booster seat.
Was thinking of putting the booster in the front seat as this has a seatbelt, however after checking online it seems like he's not allowed in the front till he's 12 or 135cm (he's 130cm now) . Does he have to go in the back even though it's insecure or can he go in the front where there's a seatbelt? Or neither, is he just not allowed in!

is it not worth putting some rear seat belts ?? they aren't that much and easy enough to fit might have weld a few nuts in but got to be worth the effort and be done with

My wife is a registered childminder and her understanding of the law is your son is allowed in the front seat but must be in a proper child's seat with a full back. Not a base only booster seat. You would also need to make sure the seat belt crosses over the boys chest and not his neck. As I said, this is her understanding of the law but obviously you should seek other opinions.

Yes, this seemed like a best option to me. Seems daft to have him in the rear where there's no belts, even though the law seems to state that's the only way.

As ever, the law seems confusing to me where classics are involved.

I've taken him out in the past where he used his booster with full back support and seat belt was across his chest etc. But I wanted to confirm this was OK before doing it again. Who would you ask for a definitive answer?
