  • Newbie; sort of!

    Hi guys.

Just found the site again after signing on about 8 years ago! I was looking for advice back then about a particular car but the deal never materialised. I've never lost my interest or enthusiasm for them and really fancy getting another old Escort again;my last one was over 30 years ago!

My first car was a Daytona yellow MK1 1300 sport then I progressed up through the ranks with several more sports, Mexicos and RS 2000's but then went on to other things once the MK3's came on the go.

However the urge to own one again has never left me and I'm about to start tentatively looking around at the market and hope some of the knowledgeable folks on this forum can be of some assistance in my quest!

Think my first problem is deciding MK1 or MK2!

Couple of starter questions; do RS1800's ever come up for sale and how many genuine twin cams are known to exist?

    Any help/ guidance/ opinions welcomed.

    Thanks

Agree. The Mk1 was just the pre production model for the Mk2.

Favourite colour was/is a RS 2000 in Olympic Blue with blue decals but I'd be equally happy with a plain colour, flat front, tarmac arched MK2 with an appropriate engine.

Ideally, I'd like to have something rare like an RS1800 or a Twin Cam but these may be unrealistic targets. Might consider building a replica as then I wouldn't feel so precious about putting lots of miles on it or using it everyday.

I could never understand why folk have cars they never drive. O because the mileage will go up. What is the point of having a rare car that only you will ever see The whole point is to show them off.

Indeed, I've kinda been one of those folk with my last 4 cars ( and even with my current one) but then they probably aren't really the sort of cars you would want to drive every day. Had enough of that, time to get a more usable classic.
