Big day today

After more than 50 years service with the company I retired today. It was a very emotional day saying goodbye to so many friends. In true factory stile I was 'banged' out in style with many hammers hitting many benches. The noise was quite deafening. As my wife put it, today is the start of my next life.

Thanks guys. More RS time as well. Hopefully going to a few more miles in her now. Only done about 1200 miles in the last 5 years so hope to double that this year.

Thanks, not sure I am ready for it yet but deed is done so no going back.
Hardest is saying goodbye to so many longtime friends. Put it into perspective when a good friend I had known since he was an apprentice was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor 2 weeks before Christmas at 58. Why does sh*t only happen to the nice people.

Happy retirement.

Retirement is only a state of mind. Keeping it occupied is key. You could always get involved with the clubs more.
I,be been retired for 20 weeks now, and although wine can be boring, keeping fit and seeing your friends regularly will fill some of the long time gaps.

Hammers on benches!!! What did you do for a living?

I worked in a factory making aerospace and motorsport servo valves. When I said hammers perhaps I should have said anything that would make a noise. Hammers were easier to type.

Best Wishes for your retirement Phil. 50 years in one job is quite an achievement, and probably not one many people will be able to do in years to come.
Does this mean that T.O.C. 2018 will be a two day event?
