Me personally

My Mexico mot has ran out but I can’t wait till 20th May 2018 because it’s too close to the Lakes tour so I will mot my car one final time around April 2018 and declare it exempt one year later @ free tax time. I can also ensure a last thorough check of all the systems and structure.

Having seen some really bad terrible horrendous conversions ...think doing away with the MOT is a bad idea ...just bring it back for every thing that goes on the public highway

Including horses lol lol ...I mean if we had a car that at any moment could be jumping and bolting off would you drive it lol

Think I'll be getting mot anyway, for peace of mind

As above the test give the confidence that the car wont fall to bits and is roadworthy

Insurance companies

It would be interesting to get some take on this subject from our insurance companies, don’t we think. Especially at that dreaded claim time, god forbidding!
Does this give insurances more wriggle out room when it comes to pre vehicle condition?

I will continue to have my RS Mexico MoT'd when it she becomes MoT exempt! I don't have access to a ramp, so it gives me peace of mind the car has been thoroughly inspected each year.

I'm sure in the unfortunate event the car is involved in an incident, if the car has not had an MoT or annual inspection, the insurance company will look less favorably towards cost of repairs etc.

I hope those that are unsure will continue to get their cars MOT'd / Checked.
It is so handy being able to check the MOT history on vehicles, you get some apparent crackers going for auction etc with brilliant write ups but you check the last mot and they have a massive list of corrosion failures. Also when viewing a car it gives you a guide of areas to check out to ensure repairs have been done correctly. Could end up with a load of fibre glassed, freshly resprayed minters hitting the road and popping up for sale 🙈
Saying that I would trust myself more than some people checking my own cars but wouldnt expect anyone to purchase anything without a proper MOT.

Unfortantly too many people think just because it has an mot then its fine an mot is minimum standards and only has to be ok at time of test if i was buying a car and could not check it on a ramp myself then I would make sure I got it indapendantly checked by a trusted company and if the seller won't agree to this then there is a good chance that he has something to hide

Having a MOT certificate only means the vehicle was road legal at time of test. It does not mean it is safe at 100mph.
