RSOC Strike Again

See the RSOC have royally ****ed things up again , just read a post on FB from Cal Withers (needs no introduction to those who really know their Ford competition history ) was invited to give a talk on National Day and was told to wait in his car !! and would be collected and contacted regards location and arrangements , was left there all day and could not get any Sence out of anyone so had to leave at 4.0pm as no one ever came for him our informed him of what was happening .THe thread on FB is then conveniently closed so no one can comment on the debarcle that the supposed Committee created .
Any one else heard anything about this ?

I was one of the early Members of the RSOC & as Principal of Withers of Winsford was pleased to display our parts for sale at the National Days often in a large Marquee.We were of course mainly involved with the Mk1 & 2 Escorts which the club gradually drifted away from. Many current Club Members will not know either Myself or WOW as they are too young!
It was therefore a huge surprise to receive an invitation several months ago to give a'talk' at this years National Day.
On Friday last I set off on the 300 mile plus return journey which included overnight stays,at 82 & with health issues I have to take it steady!!
On arrival at Donnington I was ushered through several Marshall points without problem & given parking place near on site Petrol station.
I was instructed to wait there until 12.20 when I would be collected to be taken to the Suite where the talk,as advertised in the programme' would take place.
I was still sitting in the car several hours later!!
No Club representative has contacted Me since either at the circuit or after leaving which I did circa 16.00!
An RSOC Member who became aware of the situation kindly made a contribution to My expenses out of his OWN pocket.
Whilst spending such a long time sitting in the car I observed what appeared to be a very well organised event so what went wrong?!
I have been Chairman of several Clubs during my lifetime but cannot envisage such a happening in any of them.

As a life member of the RSOC I can't apologise enough for this situation.
I was there on the day but only as a visitor so wasn't aware of any goings on.
I hope it gets sorted in the right way.

Well I think it's fair to say the Rsoc is the most embarrassing of the car clubs..

Seems to me that the supposed committee are more interested in their own agendas , egos and positions in the "how important am I game "sucking up to paid VIP guests and the plastic fantastic brigade forgetting where and what cars and people got it all started in the first place .
In the responses in comments seem to blame each other and not had the common curtesy to even return missed calls and radio messages between themselves , sad state of affairs tbh

I was there on there on day displaying my car on the anniversary stand and it all seemed to go quite well but there can be no excuses for what's happened.

I did hear a story that when tiff nedell was the VIP guest that he was ringing around the night before trying to find out info for the following day as nobody had been in touch with him about the days events or what was expected. You'd have thought that given the amount of freebies that get banded about for the hangers on pthat a car could have been sent to pick these people up and at least one person assigned to them for the day.

I did mention it a couple of agm's back but the lack of a ND co-ordinator is very telling.

I read the fb post but couldn't comment before it was locked.
Absolutely shocking way to treat an elderly gent and his wife. Those involved should hang their heads in shame, and resign their positions. Talk about giving the club a bad name. ! Probably be swept under the carpet and not mentioned again. Think the excuse was a lack of communication between 2 people, one of whom had his phone switched off !
They seemed to be all over vicky butler henderson.
(5 or 6k appearance fee?)
That clubs a joke now, and I think my 25yr+ continuous membership will lapse this year.
