in the mid eighties i owned an rs2000 that was a 1982 x reg. the previous owner/builder had bought a brand new shell from ford and built it up to a complete car from second hand parts. he then presented it to a dvla station, that registered it as a new car. obviously the rules have changed and that would not happen now. the one thing that was a problem was insurance, as they could not understand why i had a car registered 2yrs after ford had stopped making them.
Reading the threads on here there are two sides to this! The people that are running them down and the people that think the shells are great! So how can we answer a pole like this when nobody seems to know anything definite about reproduction shells!!!! Would you buy a car that you knew nothing about??????
Personally I need to know far more about them so I can say if I would use one or not! Tim
If your buying a shell Alan or at least thinking about it I could semi understand this thread however you could just ask opinions privately..
The recent influx of members due to the lakes tour was the perfect opportunity to regenerate intrest on the forum, get build threads going again and bring some excitement to the scene.. Instead we have a third thread concerning these shells..
I wonder if the rs200 forum concerns itself with the Subaru powered kit cars you can buy that look like them
