How many 1100s and 1300s are out there now badged and registered as rs2000 and how many declared not a single one

So what, its a very nice car and well put together using a replica shell.

There are a few differences but its not going to be in concours or anything, just a very nice clean escort mk.2 that many would like to own.

Gotta say fellas this thread is the most boring I've read in a long time, more so than the rsoc ones... Everyone has a different opinion and common ground will never be reached.. Just a shame for anyone rebuilding a car that'll be questioned constantly if it's a cheap fake chinky shell

Its not about opinions. Its about what is legal and correct to the current rules. There is no problem using the shells but passing it of as an original shell, transfering old shell numbers..etc is the problem.
The shell is a replacment part, even though its not from ford so can be used, but it needs to have the right ID.
It may be a boring topic for you if your never going to change cars. But with the price of them now, getting one that has been re-shelled with the new type shell that is passed of as "mint, unwelded, original" will be a bit of a ****er.

You've agreed with me while trying to disagree with me... The legal side hasn't been cleared up other than the keyboard boys

Yes quite right, nobody should be mislead by advertising these cars for sale. In these cases it should be clearly stated that the body is a replacement part! Ideally stamped with a unique chassis number. As often the case there are tell tale signs with identifying anything different from the original spec on cars and quite honestly any used car can be a can of worms, so if you don't know enough about these cars, then I suggest as with any other car, you find and take someone with you that does!
