  • Harrier history

    Hi all.
I've owned my Harrier for nearly 3 years now but would like to try and find out more about its history. If anyone has any old pics or better still owned it in the past, I would love to talk to them and maybe have a copy of any pics that are available.
It sports the same reg as the 1:43 corgi harrier does YTR 389V. anyone now how corgi came to use this plate?
The car itself is fully stripped and has been since I've owned it. My intention is to make it as nice as I possibly can.

This is the weekend it was delivered. I drove it up the drive and into the garage. Followed by a complete strip down.

    .

A few weeks later and the car is sitting on a spit having the floor stripped. A few small patches have been welded into the floor but nothing major.

This is how the car is today. I didn't do anything to it last year, but intend to crack on with it this year and hopefully in paint.

I could bore you all with hundreds of pics, of all the little bits that have been done to it so far, but my intention of this thread was to try and find out more about the cars history.
I can start a resto thread if there is enough interest!!
Thanks for your time and any information that may come from your help.

Corgi used one of my cars for the TR7 1/43 Java green Vanguards car.

They found an image online, Googled the reg, tracked me through a forum and asked if it was ok to use the reg etc

They sent me lots of drawings of the model pre manufacture to check details etc

When it was released they sent me loads of freebies.....I'd already scrapped the real one by then to build a V8

Thanks for the reply. I've messaged corgi see what they have to say on how they come to use it.
I'll also do a V888 form, see if I can get some info.

Nice harrier, well worth doing the DVLA form
Once I got my log book back I did lot of open source checks on the net, facebook etc to see if any of the names were still at the addresses.
I wrote a letter re the car and sent it out to each addrsss
Got about 5 calls out of about 13 from previous owners. One guy had moved about 5 years earlier but the chap he sold the house to sent him my letter.
Ended up getting quite a few pics of the car and history so its well worth doing if you have the time
Got to be worth a good deal more having a model made of it !!

        Good luck

I agree, the DVLA info is a must. I did it for both my Harriers, you find out who was the original supplier of your car and the original selling dealer plus all the previous owners too.

The DVLA MOT history is also helpful and will give you info on your car back to 2008

O and get your bebuild thread up, deffo be interesting to see

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

The guy that I bought the car off had no idea that the car had been used for the corgi model. I remember the day that he delivered the car on a trailer for me , he told me that a mate of his had told him about the corgi model and he joked that it should make it more valuable.

I emailed corgi models and have been chatting with the guy that found the image of my car via Google at battlesbridge car show. Which fits with me buying the car from Essex. Mark the guy from corgi said that he did try and trace the owner through the Harrier owners club sadly with no luck. It's been good to speak with Mark as, he himself owns a mk1 Mexico and so is an enthusiast himself.
Basically though the car was picked at random through Google as the car looked a nice example in the picture that he found.
