My meaning was that no official recognition or thanks has been made regarding his resignation. Surely a "thank you for all you have done " could have been made by someone in authority publicly.

Agree. My meaning was that Chris got the recognition for all his work from a committee (and members) that knew what it is all about.
And that the current committee (in general) hasn't got a clue.

As i did not renew my RSOC membership this year i cannot see the members section any more,was wanting to ask has Chris stood down because the club has been in self destruct last couple years.If this is the case another sad loss hard to say were it will all end.

Maybe Kev Cannon will reply on here too but I took the liberty of copying his reply on the RSOC BB; read it and you'll understand why.

Bloody hell I have my first beach holiday in 15 years and come back to see this.
We have over the past years sat around the committee table together we've laughed, cried, thumped the table, walked out, walked back in again, argued, agreed, but always done what we thought was the right thing for this club.
We didn't always see eye to eye, let's be honest I need a ladder to get that high, but in the end I hope we came out of all that as friends.
Lots of good & bad things have been said over the past few years but one thing I will always say is that your commitment and enthusiasm should never be questioned.
Don't really know what else to say other than thank you, you lanky hairy southerner

Yeah I knew Kev was on holiday, imo the club chairman or in his absence the vice-chairman should be the one to put up an official thank you for all the effort made by any committee member when they leave. That way the members know officially and the person concerned at least gets to feel that their efforts were appreciated by the current and previous committees.

The vice chairs job was abolished a few years ago as it was deemed not necessary... Bollocks...

The chairman ain't been heard from for a bit and I think we're due one of those threads where people want to spend more time with their families.


Then Kev should be the man to stabilise the turmoil until the next agm in approx 18 months...

Just to clear a few things up, your all probably right that someone from the RSOC committee should of commented on the post from Gizmo, I personally spoke with Chris the next day and discussed a few things.

Yes it is a sad day and to be honest I have said for a long time now that a lot of the original old skool members if you like seem to be fading away which is a real shame to be honest as these are the heart beat of the club.

I can only do my best as a single voice on the committee, we all have different opinions and views and as always a majority vote will always win so it does disappoint me when I read posts like this as we can not all be tared with the same brush, I agree with some views and disagree with others on the committee but that is what being on a committee is, I don't need to tell anyone on here that as the majority have been on the committee and a member a lot longer than I have.

Anyway keep in touch Gizmo and sort out the BT wifi as it's s**t

Thanks Mickey. You are always the first to answer any quieries or concerns regarding the club & I always truly appreciate this. The club needs more people like you running it who have a genuine passion & are not in it for the "kudos"

Mickey you ALWAYS go out of your way to help/answer issues. As frosty has said you would make a cracking chairman.

Cheers chaps, I do appreciate the comments, I would not be in a position to be chairman yet, my knowledge/history is not enough in my opinion to be head of such a great club.

I do know Nick is extremely busy at the moment with work etc, I obviously can't comment on his behalf but I do know he is good friends with Gizmo so have no doubt he would of spoken with him.

Mickey,you have a lot of respect from a lot of rs members, the old school are fading away because some are getting banned and others are fed up with

Really Mickey I remember being stood outside the jury inn having a fag at one of our committee meeting talking to Paul Linfoot and you and Tony Francis came out and we were talking about Gizmo an you both said Chris has to go as he shouldnt be allowed on to the committee as IT was going to be a committee role
