  • Registering a car with the dvla.

My XL has not been taxed since Feb 1994 and has never been sorned. It shows up on the dvla website so they have a record of it. I have the old style v5, my question is how do I go about registering a change of keeper?

Send it off as normal or apply for a new log book with new keepers details

As Alan says, just send the old v5 away as normal, last year I bought an old matchless motorbike. Total basket case and been off the road for years, only paperwork was a very old and tatty v5- phoned DVLA and they confirmed it was all ok so just sent it off and got a v5c back within a couple of weeks..
If your v5 still has the new keeper/sale notification attached its worth keeping hold of until the new logbook arrives because should there be a balls up with the transfer or lost in post then you can re apply with it and not have to pay the £25 application charge..
