  • Log book engine swop ?

    Hi all
Just sent my log book away to change engine number and size
Got it back today needing evidence to change the details ,I need either
1/ receipt on headed paper from the garage that supplied the new engine, or
2/ inspection report for insurance purposes Or
3/ written confirmation from manufacturer showing engine number and size
If the engine was converted or the change took place before I bought the vehicle they will accept
1/ written confirmation on headed paper from the garage that did the conversion
2/ written confirmation of the change on headed paper from a independent garage

I bought the YB in a abandoned track project but the engine number is clear and unaltered and checked out OK via a police contact so I've no worries on that score ?
I work in the trade so can easily get written confirmation of the change on a company letter head.
So the question is what have other people done and what do you actually put in writing for them as well as the engine number ?
Changed the details many times before on other cars but never had this before but I was warning there getting stricter now Any advice would be grateful
    Thanks paul

I had the very same problem Paul
DVLA wanted the same info as they want you to provide

So I told them I have bought the car from a local car thief who deals in stolen cars and bought thr V5 and VIN tags fro E Bay

Instant responce saying no problem at all ,,

So joking aside.. I had a letter/E Mail from Chester Sports Cars who fit the engine for me along with a copy of the new engine invoice showing the engine CC and ID number

In your case you can get your work garage to confirm the CC and engine number and that should suffice

I remember getting the mot guy to confirm what the engine was and he just wrote it on his headed paper.

Hi Paul, when i changed the engine on a MK1 Escort i had a mate of mine, who owns his own garage, to confirm the engine no. Also the DVLA wanted a full inspection by him to confirm that the brakes, suspension and transmission had been upgraded to deal with the bigger and more powerful engine. This was all done by him on headed paper and the DVLA accepted it with no problem's.
          Hope this helps.
