What is it with MK2 Escorts.

For me it was sat in the back of my Dads old Volvo in the early 80's. I'd be about 13 and I saw Signal Orange RS2000 at the traffic lights.

    What is that :cyclops:

When I got close to driving age anything on four wheels just didn't compare to the RS2000.

I knew I couldn't buy a Ferrari or Porsche at 17 but that MK2 Pop looked mightly close to that Orange RS2000 I'd seen years back.

Whenever I spotted a MK2 RS parked up I'd go over and examine it in great detail. All these years later and Im still doing the same thing LOL.

How nice it was when they were mainstream daily drivers well before the era of the boy racer hot hatch.

    Joe.

For me it was Sutton Park on the RAC rally

I watched TR7's, SDI Rover, Manta's etc etc :cyclops: and the like giving it loads through the trees

    And the MKII Escort

    Then I owned OFK 514W in 1988/89

    Had 5 more MKII's till I got back into RS's in 1999 (RS1600i)

    Then SKC in 10/2000

    5 years with 1 car

Always been into car, the MK2 was my first road car, then it was MK1-2 rallying then a plethora of other makes but always said I would have a MK2 as it was and has been the most fun with your trousers on

I will get this one the way I want it might take a year or two though

i liked the cars from watching them as a nipper i guess, rallying, autograss etc.etc but what really done it was my cousin buying a 1600 sport, i must of been about 14 and was chuffed going out in it...

goes back to when I was about 14 and my old man bought a MK2 Terracotta RS2000 "PLC 590W" what a proud son was I. Never looked back since. Was always a keen Professionals fan as well. Used to also watch the local airfield stage rallies with my dad in the late 70's early 80's and the MK2 was always my favourite. He thinks I'm absolutely mad now still having one but secretly loves it........

I watched the Professionals as a kid, fell in love with the speeded up footage. and of course the RS2, when i was 21 bought AVX 833S, Diamond White with Black vinyl roof pre-custom RS2 which i believe according to HPI is still alive and now on her 13th owner, i really would like to come across that car again,

Bought my RS2 brand new back in '78 and still got it. I make that 27 years. Can anyone beat 27 years with the same RS2. Still comes out in the summer and I still love driving it after all these years. Used to road rally it in the early '80s but then marriage and a mortgage forced the RS off the road for nearly 10 years. It's still only got 78000 on the clock.
In average condition anyone know what it's worth now.
