  • Cumbrian Road

A route often driven on the Tour and one of the most scenic in the lakes.

Excuse the quality but it shows the true devestation this weekend.

    Cheers

I drove along there whilst on holiday in Coniston this year. Can't believe the devastation. Makes me remember the floods we had around here in the Summer of 2007. Really feel for the people affected.

Truely shocking. A "once in a hundred years" deluge that has now happened three times in ten years.

I travel along it regularly for M Sport testing in Greystoke, the Thursday before the storm was horrendous along there. It's going to take some fettling.

I really don't understand why they don't just get on with it and clear it. Nothing a couple of JCBs couldn't sort within a week. One at the Keswick end, the other at Grasmere, meet in the middle.
The only major issue would be reconstructing the road near the top of the pass which needs some proper civil engineering.
I suppose it will take a couple of months just to write the risk assessments, knowing the way road construction projects work these days.
