Maybe they are advertised as replica shells as it stops any copyright infringement to FoMoCo ? And we know how arsey they can be, even though they have zero interest in their back catalog

These are the facts most will not accept ..

New or replica parts
Your vehicle won’t get an age-related registration number if it includes new or replica parts. DVLA will give your vehicle a ‘Q’ prefix registration number. Your vehicle must pass the relevant type approval test to get a ‘Q’ prefix registration number.

So these shells will have a Q plate

Sometimes I think we forget that these are simply mass-produced machines with mass produced parts that have been long forgotten by the marketing people at Ford.

New shells haven’t had a detrimental effect on other classics & there are rally prep companies that already have 30 to 50 imported escort shells in stock already….anyone looking for a new shell for their logbook has had ample opportunity for years now.

Don't get me wrong, I love my escorts but they are not 'individually hand created by an artist or sculptor'. As early as 1974 Ford had made 2 million escorts in Britain alone!

If the shells are good quality, shouldn't really matter if its a genuine car being re shelled, we all know what's involved to restore one, at end of the day makes really nice safe car back on the road ,
