What are peoples thoughts on the current prices Escort are selling for ?

The RS marque seem to have shot out of control

MK2 cars are also getting higher and higher as are MK1s

Some people seem to be leaning towords four door cars which also seem to be increaseing very rapid

At one point the SA inports were also a cheaper option but again they have shot up in price.

Question is are these cars going to top out at some point ?

Could be an idea for the more knowlegable pundits to give an opinion on prices and compile a basic price guide.

The first is just a rotting carcass of an escort. Its not even a genuine 1600 sport but yet the seller thinks current market value is £1750

The second is an import from a "desert region" of eastern europe ????
However the photos show an obviously rusty nail.There is no way that car has spent its life in a dry climate. However the seller values it at £3500
Also being from the "desert" doesn't mean it won't rust, I live out in the middle east and cars do suffer from rust issues,admittedly nowhere near as bad as european climates,but they do have it.

I'm not sure where the market value will eventually end. As the saying goes, a car is only worth as much as the buyer is prepared to pay for it. So until buyers stop paying the current high prices, high they will stay .
From a personal point, my collection is now worth considerably more than it was 5 years ago, but to me, owning and driving the cars is the pleasure not the investment.

I dont think this is anything new?

Middle aged men with their family off their hands and lots of spare dosh are having cars that they could only dream of when younger, whether it be fords or any other makes. People are resorting to buying 4 doors (nothing wrong with 4 doors) that would not of been entertained a few years ago?
It may settle down when we are rtoo old to enjoy them amd the next generation want Nova`s etc

Mortgage rates at an all time low.........Mortgages for middle aged guys being paid off......families fleeing the nest etc all add up to an extraordinary rise in prices none of us ever imagined.

This question has also been discussed many many years ago with people selling up at that time because they thought the bubble was about to burst. It is really crazy

you buy a rotten sport ,rs 2, mex for 5 k off ebay could you restore it to a good standard for say 15k? I think not unless you can do the work yourself,people will pay good money for a good car as they cost a lot more to restore proffesionaly than buy one done even at top money
