I was just about to send my shell of to the dippers when I was warned of seam leakage when painted, also rusting in inaccessible areas. Not too keen on shot blasting, but now considering DIY soda blasting kit, anybody had any success with these?

Try to look for a company that knows it way about VW campers as the chassis is box section and they have to drill them to get the e coat in and the endoscope in to check it has been flushed OK and you won't have trouble with bleed.

There is another alternative that's starting to become popular, and that's baking. Basically, the bare shell is placed into an over and brought up to temperature very slowly to prevent any distortion of the panels. Any paint/underseal is then converted to a fine ash which is then simply washed off. I haven't any personal experience of it but a friend of mine had his MGB done this way at Paint Strip in Preston and was really pleased with the results.

Same company as thedman used. I was contemplating getting the shell stripped then repairing and replacing old panels before e-coating, my only worry is the shell rusting in the mean time.
Anybody had any experience with the DIY soda blasters, I'm also considering blasting particular areas to repair, then when all the welding finished, off to the dippers.
