    Just thought i would let you all know if you didn't already know, have just used this company again and would highly recommend there services, very helpful, very quick turnaround and all round nice guys who are a pleasure to deal with!

    I echo this statement, great company to deal with no complaints.
    But I do have a question, knowing nothing about car electrics instead of one wire from the dizzy there are now 2 so one I put where the original wire went on the coil the other i spliced into the other wire on the coil discretely.
    Car starts up and seems to run fine as does my mates identical set up on identical car, then I go on another site and read that the supply should be constant 12v so ideally the second wire should go to the fuse board or possibly starter motor feed.
    What difference would this make to the running of the car ( please excuse my ignorance)?

      A crude picture but basically, a 12v switched ignition feed goes to + side of coil and to red postive to dizzy, the black from dizzy goes to negative side of coil.
      If you had a non switched permanat supply to dizzy you wouldnt b able to turn the car off! so id say yours is ok mate

        As Andy says the feed (red) is an ignition supply to stop engine when you turn the key off.
        The permenent you may have picked up on is on a non ballast coil starting and running are both 12v feed but on a ballast system there is another wire on the starter solenoid which supply's 12v to the coil on starting but for running the supply goes through the ballast ( a resistor or resistive wire on the Escort) to drop the voltage to 9v for running.
        In the old points system the coil negative is switched by the points , the negative connection on the distributor was a little wire from the base plate to the body of the distributor this then connects through the metal to the engine via the engine earth strap back to the battery negative.
        With the electronic system the electronics inside requires a positive feed as well hence the extra wire as the points did not need this.
