  • Bonjour! please help!

    Hi

im new to your site but its pretty impressive stuff. unfortunatly only a student with few pennies at the moment however very keen to get my own classic ford (like the old escort mk2!)

However planning a project for my mk4 (stage 2 rsturbo style model) escort at the moment starting off with insurance friendly 1.3. Wish i could get a mk2 but due to student debt its not poss!

    However need some help
has anyone got any idea what wheels these are an if so whether they are available in 4stud offset ET36-38?? (item found on ebay - 15" ford wheels)

Also what is the offset for most of the wheels found for mk1 / mk2 escorts. I know that it is important and that you cant go putting wheels with the incorrect offset on as you will go through bearings like there is no tomorrow? i am correct or can you "get away with it"?

    Cheers PAUL

so for my escort mk4 i could put on wheels of set ET36-38 and on an esocrt mk2 (for example say ET25) how come these saph cossie wheels (i think) are on this

cos surely they are the incorrect offset. i had mondeo alloys on my escort and they were ET40 so larger and just ok ??? ?

oh im so confused and im supposed to be doing mechanical engineering!!!! ops:

I'm not saying that they wont fit what happens when you put an incorrect OSet on say the car pictured is you load the bearings up wrongly and they wear quicker or the wheel dont turn as in the front without catching the arches or you put the suspension geometry way out

        an explantion here http://www.xrweb.co.uk/code/offset.htm

Note that extensive negative offset can potentially cause increased steering wheel kick-back and place additional stresses on the vehicle's entyre suspension. Please feel free to phone Tyres Sold Online if you require additional facts about wheel offsets
The standard RS type alloy wheels were 6J x 13 with ET19 offset, 108 PCD

funny when you look out for something it mysteriously appears. just came back from mates house and outside his neighbours was an old mercedes parked up with the same wheels!

so thats their origin i suppose.

          Cheers Paul
