Im just wondering if any of you guys get moaned at by your friends about your cars?
if any ones seen my restoration thread on here my mex is totally stripped and I got it back a couple of months ago from having the bodywork done. ive not got loads of time to spend in the garage working on it due to family and work so I pick away when I can.
ive got mates who "blitz" cars over a couple of weekends and these guys are constantly on at me saying things like...." have you not finished it yet", "book it in for mot next week", "come on whats taking you soo long" etc

its slighty annoying when im tyring to do the car to a decent standard all over. ie not just a quick spray job, spray stone guard and hope for the best!

please don't say im the only one!

You take as long as you want David, it's your car and the only person you need to please is yourself. There's nothing worse than rushing and fecking something up, or having something not quite right that niggles you every time you see it. John.

You're certainly not the only one David. Everyone has different circumstances and abilities! Some eat and sleep their hobbies and then there’s others that just have no idea what’s involved in some processes. I have to say I was working on a friend’s car today (to get it to the lakes) and enjoyed it far more than my own lately! I think it was because it was someone else’s deadline! Do your own thing at your own pace and enjoy it, it's you're hobby. Mark.

your right im not going to rush it for anyone, they all get told its finished when its finished and im perfectly happy with it all.
just because it took me 18 hours to strip it to a bare shell doesn't mean it goes back together just as fast! lol

I know what you mean about working on other peoples cars as I do it all the time during the day....that's my job, I think that's part of the problem! I should have been a joiner and kept cars for a hobby

Some folk don't work the hours that some of us do ,,,

And they maybe can afford to pay others to do thier cars for em!

You plod away pal,, ignore their comments , or ask em to help,, see what they say to that..

You can't rush a good job I say.

I know most would help if I asked, that's not a problem.
I find some just don't understand about the escort world and what value these cars have in real life and on ebay and how it all works.
Your right there, you can't rush a good job.

you need three things to work at an escort time money and patience. No point rushing something and having to redo it when it starts to bug you

Mmmmm I've had some of this, and got me down too!

To start with, my ex father in law used to mock me about the time it took to paint a window. No need to do all that he said, you want to do it this way!...........so I did and it all pealed of in months!

I've also had people moan at me about the length of time it was taking me to completely refit out my bathroom, walls and floors replaced too! It all seemed about me missing out with going out socialising in my car too, but not what I really wanted......I simply did not have the time to go out in it! So for me it was all about what I wanted and had to give priorority to. The job was challenging enough so it had to be done right, and so I had to take my time. At the end of the day I'm not a professional, I'm just an ambitious DIYer, I'm proud of the work I put into it and am now enjoying the benefits.

With my RS it took years to collect parts and restore it, but the job has been long lasting, it's earned some silverware, and dare I say it, 100% reliable. If the job has been done quickly then a keen eye will spot it. I've seen all this with building work, decorating etc, the snags soon raise their ugly faces!

Take your time, don't give a toss what others think and do the job right, oh and avoid accidents, then you will enjoy seeing people envious of the cracking job you have done!

                    Carry on the good work!

                    Tim

Alot of my problem comes down to mood lol. After working on cars all day then coming home spending time with the wife and kids etc I can't be bothered and just want to turn off and chill out.....I hate it though

Yes I work with my hands too and I come home and just want to chill out, I don't particularly want to start on another manual job straight away, and yes you have kids too that command all your attention and drain you of all your energy, bless them! Working on cars all day too, can take the edge off your enjoyment. You've got to get on with these projects when you are in the mood as it's no use otherwise as you will just get tired and not enjoy it! Sooner or later you will get out of bed and say today I'm going to get on with my project. I know many people in all sorts of hobbies and crafts who feel like this. Eventually you will feel in the right frame of mind and have the drive and energy to get on with it!
