Inexpensive vehicle tracker

I know they have been discussed previously, I have no idea if anyone has different products available but it appears this one is available on the high street, it in argos and on amazon but if you shop here on a vat free day then it's the cheapest I've seen it. I can't find any reviews or instructional vids but I think it's a fairly new release. Might be worth a punt for some?

I bought a different make of tracker for a similar price and it was sh ite!
You could check where it was but if the car is in a garage it ends up with a weak signal so the one i had ended up constantly saying the car was moving even though i set the distance of notification to 1km.Also if i forgot to dis-arm it and drove the car it wouldn't notify me that the car had moved

I believe if a SIM card is inactive for a certain time, ie no top up, the phone company will withdraw it and and resell the number too.

yes , they do that here.
If you have a GSM sim card in a gate and its not used, ie not kept active by a text or a call for something like 6 months they can take the number back.
You have to set up a direct debit top up to avoid this.

Yes get a pay as you go sim card from the provider with the best network signal where the car's kept and stick £10 on it .
Programme the cheap tracker so it sleeps but wakes up on vibration or car movement . That way you don't get false alarms . Forget the geo fence feature cos as soon as it loses a satellite for a few seconds it will think the car's moved and you'll get a text (followed by you driving 150mph in panic) lol .
You can also stick one on your garage door , that way as soon as it vibrates you can get down there with a bat before they've broken in !!

Programme the name of the car it's fitted into in your mobile phone book so you know which one's gone off . If you see an "escort" text message pop up then start running , if you see "bmw" then you can let them have it and claim on the insurance .

If you hard wire the tracker into the car there's a little wiring harness you can attach to the tracker which then allows you to externally switch a normally open or normally closed circuit when you send it a text message command .
Wire that to a relay and a remote horn (£5 down Halfords etc) and that way if you track the car to some barns or garage complex etc you can trigger it and pinpoint it fast . Simples .
