ND 2008, seems an awful long time ago, the last RSOC event I attended and when my membership lapsed.
I think the RS club has its problems but I guess so do lots of other clubs, Internet forums and FB being the new scene and with younger members I think the old skool club scene mentality is a thing of the past, I don't think there's a great deal of brand loyalty anymore either, when the latest hot hatch comes out with better reviews people jump ship.
I enjoyed my 20 years in the club and made some lifelong friends across the country, the majority of those now dont own RS cars anymore .....but we still talk about Escorts.
I think over the next few years the club will shrink in size, as it has since its peak in the early 90's, it will continue but it has to realise it isn't the giant it once was and act and spend accordingly.
I also think all the negative talk across forums not only has existing members questioning their renewals but more importantly sends a poor message to prospective members.
As a non member it's probably not right to comment, it's up to the committee and its members to resolve and I hope they do get things back on track.
All the best, Paul , RSOC 8688

I disagree with Ruddy on this ...I believe because we have in the past been members we do have a right, I believe you have every right to comment as do all ex members ...we all left for our own reason, and if we don't say why we left how are the RSOC going to resolve any issues.
My main issue when I left back in the early 90s was how many privileges the committee had ....on a national day the committee tent was restricted access which was acceptable ...but it was nearly 4 times the size of any other tent. Come on that was taking the Micky
If they want to listen ...that's a different question lol

I have no problems with people disagreeing with me, the Mrs does everyday
As said my membership lapsed in 2008, I'd sold my RS2000 by then and couldn't see me buying another, I could have renewed as an associate member but I think it was me that had run my course rather than anything specific with the club.
Interestingly my Porsche club membership lapsed this month and that hasn't been renewed either as I sold my car in June, I only renewed last year as I used their insurance scheme, perhaps that shows if there's a good benefit to be had then members will renew ?
