There are a few treads about these parts - quality and realistic 'feel' can be questionable apparently - I ain't seen them so can't say for fact! Reports of rear spoilers not fitting, gear knobs splitting etc. Not mucj said about the smaller moulded items produced bulkhead wiring grommets etc so seems like take your chances!

Burtons sell these and other small parts, but not sure if they come from the same source.

Maybe his bootlid is bent ...

Bought some of the smaller parts via Burton and am really happy with the quality.

Asking if OZ repro parts are any good is liking asking if UK repro parts are any good. There are lots of different suppliers and some make very good stuff while other bits from other suppliers can leave a lot to be desired. Often it can be a problem of poor customer relations or poor customer service when something does go wrong.

I've been supplying remade bits, mostly for the Mk1 for a while now and I get my parts from all over the world and most have not been a problem at all. However there are one or two suppliers that I will not go back to or whose parts I will not touch with a barge pole, either from my own experience with them or stories that others have told me.

The thing you need to understand is that because of the way they are made and the volumes they are made in many of these repro parts are not going to look and perform quite as well as an original part made by the original manufacturer. The better quality parts are often made by companies who have a big investment in the correct tools and machinery whereas parts made in some guys garden shed may not stand the rigours of time just as well - that's just a simple fact of life.

Saying all that my attitude is that people still need to stand over the stuff they are supplying and try and sort any issues and this is where some of them fall down very badly indeed and I'll not touch these guys at all. In my case if a customer contacts me with a problem I will try and figure out what went wrong. Sometimes it is a fault with the part and on other occasions it's just been that the customer didn't understand the best way to fit a part - I've now started to supply fitting instructions with some parts. In most of these cases I offer either a refund or a replacement part.

Of course the other side of that coin is that some people will try it on, on a couple of occasions I been contacted about faulty parts and when I've asked for it to be sent back with details of when it was bought I've not heard another word about it it's not always the suppliers fault either.

To reiterate what I said earlier, there are some very good and some rather poor parts out there. The best advice I can offer is if you are thinking of buying something repro, come on here and ask about a specific part and a specific supplier and then you might get rather more informative advice, rather than just asking a very general question because then you will get nothing but conflicting opinions depending on what parts people have bought.

                          Hope this helps, Neil.

the small parts like the grommets & rubber stops etc are fine & better than a perished 35 year old one. Its the Spoilers & gear knobs are the issue.

Chesney's taken a lot of flack on this but I can back him up. I've one & tried everything to make it sit right. , bending the spoiler, preforming the edges with gentle heat etc. The surface finish is very good but the rubber does not have the 'body' or strength as the originals.
If you were prepared to stick the spoiler to the boot lid it would look ok, but i'm not doing that.

Shame, he made a good effort & you'd imagine with today's technology that the quality should be able to be replicated.
