  • MK1 shell restoration company recommendations required (near Herts)

    Hi All

I'm looking to get my MK1 Escort restored, since buying her back in 2009 I started working on her a while back but the realization that I just don't have the time has hit home

Currently I have most of the front end off (just the front chassis rails remain), with good list of already sourced new replacement panels such as: Front Panel, Front rad cross member, slam panel, inner wings, splash panels, door hinge post panels, fitch panels, heater bowl, 3 piece bulk head plate kit, large gearbox tunnel, seat cross member panels and 3 or the 4 floor panels which may or may not be required. (I'm also thinking of going down the bubble arch route but not made up mind yet).

I've not go as far as the rear of the car but it looks in good shape

I'm looking for recommendations for restorers with experience of MK1/2's and can show me good examples of their work, who will do a good full shell restoration and paint job and who are within a reasonable distance to me in Hemel Hempstead, Herts.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps, will look into them both. Just out of interest how much should I be looking at for what is a fairly big resto? I'm not after concourse.

At Berkshire body shop or http://www.yell.com/biz/auto-painter...rry-901434446/ they are good too
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful places

Would recon 8-9 grand (at cheapish body shop rates) fit all the panels arches etc fill and paint inside outside and underneath (just done my underside and recon it took about 50hrs in total but that was to look factory) I have not long finished a major resto for someone and that took about 200 hrs and that wasn't painting it.
