Look for an old 99p 80mm or in old money 3" ammeter or voltmeter etc from ebay or an autojumble, and rob it of its glass. Now lots of people have converted to alternators ammeters are redundant. What ever it is make sure its cheap or even free !!!!
Most gauge glass is the same thickness or there abouts, just twist off the outer bezel and swap. If the glass is slightly thinner it can be packed out with some o-ring material to secure the glass. Just make sure the needle is clear of the glass. This type of repair I've carried out many times as I'm an instrument technician but on bigger industrial gauges.
