  • Opinions on new shape Fiesta ST

    Hi all,
I'm running a Mk6 Escort diesel van as a daily driver at the moment but its getting a bit old, tired & worn out (also boring to drive!), was thinking I'd like to get one of the new shape Fiesta ST's instead for a daily driver, anyone own one/opinions on them?

The only downside is I'd have to sell my Mk1 Cortina GT to fund buying one , although its been covered up unused in the barn since the mot ran out last August....

Bit of a hard decision to make really, depends if I can bring myself to sell the Cortina & how good the Fiestas are, will still have both the Mk1 Escorts to mess with though... decisions...

    cheers, Stu.

took my mk2 down to the local ford dealership today for their open day and had a test drive in the new fiesta st, it was good, pretty fast, handled well, sounded good, computer said 40mpg and thats a test drive car that gets ragged all the time. 185bhp but the dealer will chip it to 215bhp from new for £700 as an approved mod. bit small for me personally as a daily driver and obviously FWD but they do know how to make a FWD car feel good these days, all in all i enjoyed it... but i certainly wouldnt sell the escort to buy it

They are dog poo mate so don't do it . Just sell the van and buy a £1500 renaultsport Clio for cheap daily thrills . Sorted .

                      Don't forget your car's cousin's heritage Stu!!

You can get any number of really superb modern cars a few years old for next to nothing, but an original '65 Monaco Red 2 door GT in that condition is so rare. And with that registration number, it just needs a Twincam installing!

Seems most of you think I should keep the Cortina then!
Its still just an idea at the moment, but not going to rush into things, will have to have a think about it, its just that once the Sport is finished I'll have 3 classics to run & use, can't see I'll have the time to use them all...

                          cheers, Stu.

I've got an Escort 55 diesil van as a work horse/daily as well and have lots of old cars i don't drive much (we are twins , lol ) .
The classics are good fun and investments though and that's reason i wouldn't sell the mk1 cortina for a new fiesta if i were you . It will cost you a fortune in deprecation and running costs and the cortina will just keep rising .
