As mentioned there is some play in the rack. This can most likely be cured by shimming. At the worst case, a new rack & pinion set. However considering that the latest Quaife price on this unit is £935, it is a cheap way to go to get a proper Gp4 Rack.

The housing appears to be all machined alloy and a lot heavier duty than a standard rack, that is probably where the money is ...
