Does anybody on here have any dealings with solar panels ?
I'm looking to reduce my electric bill and this is an option but not sure weather to buy or rent the roof out for feed in tariff only.
    All comments welcome thanks

We have solar panels. Bought outright so the company then don't own your roof. Feed in value is about £1200 a year.

Depends on whether you have a chunk of change that you will see minimal return on in next ten or so years? The FIT is now at a level that it will take that period to cover the initial cost - you will benefit with the reduced cost on your bill - maybe £100 - 150 a year depending on installation size.
If you allow a company to fit they DON'T OWN your roof - they are just renting the space and that rent is paid by the Bill reduction - you get none of the FIT - that's theirs to cover the install cost!

Its obviously a long term thing and with saving rates low it can be sort of looked at as an investment but I'm yet to be convinced and I specify them in my job!
